The burning HMS Gaspee will take to Rhode Island roads starting Oct. 14 when distribution of the charity license plate begins. Rhode Island drivers have ordered more than 700 of the license plates, which depict the burning of the British revenue schooner the HMS Gaspee off Warwick, according to Judy Hoffman of the Gaspee Days Committee, which benefits from plate sales. Anyone who ordered passenger plates before Sept. 15 can pick up their plates between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Gamm Theatre, 1245 Jefferson Blvd.
