An 18-year-old from Spain was killed in a one-car crash Sunday morning on Route 195 in East Providence, according to the Rhode Island State Police. Jefferson Zaid Lara Romero was driving a Honda sedan west in heavy rain around 2:20 a.m. when he lost control of the car near East Shore Expressway (Route 114), according to the Rhode Island State Police. The car veered right across three travel lanes, went off the road and struck "a large rock" before riding back onto the road, traveling left across all three lanes and hitting the high-speed barrier, where it came to a stop, the state police said.
